Lunch for a crowd
John 6:1–13 · Retold for children
A hungry crowd
A large crowd had gathered around Jesus. It was time to think about food, but buying bread for so many people seemed impossible to the disciples.
A small lunch
Andrew pointed out a boy with five barley loaves and two fish. It looked like very little beside such a great crowd.
Thanks before the meal
Jesus had the people sit down, gave thanks and distributed the food. The people ate as much as they wanted.
Nothing wasted
After everyone had eaten, the disciples gathered the leftover pieces. They filled twelve baskets. The small lunch had become part of a surprising gift.
