A neighbour on the road
Luke 10:25–37 · Retold for children
Who is my neighbour?
A man asked Jesus about loving his neighbour. Jesus answered with a story about a traveller going from Jerusalem to Jericho.
Someone needs help
The traveller had been hurt and left beside the road. Two people passed without helping. Then a Samaritan came along and felt compassion.
Practical kindness
The Samaritan cared for the man’s wounds, brought him to an inn and paid for his care. He used his time and resources to help a stranger.
Go and do likewise
Jesus asked which person had acted as a neighbour. The answer was the one who showed mercy. Loving a neighbour means doing something caring, not only saying kind words.
