The little basket on the river
Exodus 2:1–10 · Retold for children
A family wants safety
At a dangerous time for Hebrew families, a mother hid her baby boy. When she could no longer hide him, she prepared a waterproof basket.
Beside the river
She placed the basket among the reeds by the Nile. The baby’s sister watched from a distance to see what would happen.
A caring choice
Pharaoh’s daughter found the basket. She saw the baby crying and felt compassion. His sister offered to find a Hebrew woman to nurse him.
A child is cared for
The baby’s own mother was able to care for him. Later, Pharaoh’s daughter took him as her son and named him Moses. Several people had helped protect a little child.
