Joseph chooses forgiveness
Genesis 45:1–15; 50:15–21 · Retold for children
A difficult family story
Joseph and his brothers had a painful history. Years after being taken to Egypt, Joseph had become a leader who helped store food for a famine.
Hungry visitors
When food grew scarce, Joseph’s brothers came to Egypt to buy grain. They did not recognise him at first. Joseph eventually told them who he was.
Tears and welcome
Joseph wept and welcomed his brothers. He asked them to bring their father and families to Egypt, where there was food. A broken family began to come together.
Care instead of revenge
Later, the brothers feared Joseph would punish them. Joseph spoke kindly and promised to provide for them and their children. He chose care instead of revenge.
