A world full of wonder
Genesis 1:1–2:3 · Retold for children
Let there be light
The Bible begins with God creating the heavens and the earth. God said, “Let there be light,” and light shone. Day and night had their places.
A growing world
God made room for sea and sky, plants and trees. Lights marked the days and seasons. The world was becoming a home full of good things.
Life everywhere
Fish filled the water, birds flew overhead, and animals moved across the land. God made people in his image and gave them responsibility to care for the earth.
Time to rest
God saw that everything he had made was very good. After the work of creation, God rested. Work, care and rest all have a place in a good life.
